Bieberchella Not Over Yet: Justin Bieber’s Streams Still Going Up Several Days After Headlining Set

Justin Bieber’s return to the Coachella stage as a headliner has ignited a significant surge in his music consumption, with streaming numbers continuing their upward trajectory days after his electrifying performance. The pop superstar’s highly anticipated set, which saw him delve into both his contemporary hits and beloved classics, has translated into a sustained boost for his catalog, underscoring the enduring power of a high-profile live performance in the digital age.

The Coachella Effect: A Streaming Avalanche

Following his headline performance on Sunday, April 12th, Justin Bieber experienced the most significant streaming day of his 2026 career. Reports from Billboard indicated that he amassed an impressive 24.6 million streams on that single day, a figure not seen since July 18th of the previous year. This initial surge was just the beginning, as the momentum carried into the subsequent days.

On Monday, April 13th, Bieber’s on-demand U.S. streams escalated further, reaching just over 29 million, representing a substantial gain of approximately 20% according to preliminary data from Luminate. The upward trend persisted into Tuesday, April 14th, when his catalog garnered an even higher 30.9 million streams, a 7% increase from the previous day. Cumulatively, his streams have seen a remarkable 314% increase since April 5th, when he registered under 7.5 million total daily streams, demonstrating a consistent and dramatic rise in listener engagement post-Coachella.

The primary beneficiaries of this streaming surge are, unsurprisingly, the tracks from his latest album, Swag. Bieber’s headlining set drew heavily from this project, and its lead singles, "Daisies" and "Yukon," have experienced a doubling of their streams in the three days following his Coachella appearance (April 12-14) compared to the same period the week prior (April 5-7). "Daisies" saw a 138% increase, reaching 4.6 million streams, while "Yukon" jumped 109% to 4.3 million streams. The Swag album as a whole has accumulated a combined 21.6 million streams over this post-Coachella period, marking a significant 208% gain from the preceding week.

However, the impact extends far beyond his latest work, with Bieber’s extensive back catalog witnessing substantial growth. "Baby," his 2010 breakout hit featuring Ludacris, has surged by 220% to 3.7 million streams during the same three-day window. "Confident," his popular 2013 collaboration with Chance the Rapper, has spiked by an impressive 270% to 3.2 million streams. The most dramatic resurgence has been reserved for his 2012 Believe-era track "Beauty and a Beat," featuring Nicki Minaj. This fan-favorite has racked up a remarkable 5.1 million streams in the post-Coachella period, a staggering 390% gain, even propelling it into the top five on both the Spotify Daily Top Songs USA chart and Apple Music’s real-time songs listing.

The magnitude of Bieber’s streaming gains is comparable to the surges typically observed by halftime performers at the Super Bowl, a testament to the significant cultural impact of his Coachella performance. This sustained uplift is poised to have a profound influence on his presence on the Billboard charts in the coming weeks, solidifying his status as a dominant force in the music industry.

Beyond Bieber: Other Headliners See Catalog Gains

While Justin Bieber captured the lion’s share of attention and streaming numbers, the other two Coachella headliners, Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G, also experienced notable increases in their music consumption following their respective performances.

Sabrina Carpenter, who headlined the festival on Friday, April 11th, saw her catalog generate nearly 50 million streams in the four days following her set (April 11-14). This represents a 40% increase compared to the same period the previous week, according to Luminate data. Her latest album, Man’s Best Friend, including the new single "House Tour," which opened her set, accounted for 23.1 million of these streams, an impressive 58% increase from the prior week. Carpenter’s performance was particularly resonant, fulfilling a prediction she made during her 2024 Coachella appearance when she told the crowd, "Coachella, see you back here when I headline."

How Much Have Justin Bieber’s Streams Continued to Rise Post-Coachella?

Karol G, who closed out the festival as the Sunday night headliner, garnered nearly 15.9 million streams across the two days following her performance (April 13-14), a 51% rise in catalog streams compared to the same period the previous week. Her set prominently featured tracks from her 2025 album Tropicoqueta, which contributed 5.1 million of these streams, an increase of 67% from the week before.

Beyond the headliners, other buzzy acts also saw modest yet significant streaming boosts. KATSEYE, whose Friday set on the Sahara stage garnered considerable attention, logged 21.6 million streams in the four days after their performance, a 74% increase. A portion of this growth was attributed to the Thursday debut of their new single "Pinky Up." Excluding this new release, their catalog streams were up 17% to 15 million. Slayyyter, the rising dance-pop artist whose album Worst Girl in America recently topped the Billboard Dance Albums chart, accumulated 5.7 million streams in the four days following her Friday performance, a 15% gain from the preceding week.

The "Drama" Effect: Alicia Keys’ "Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart" Finds New Life

The critically acclaimed A24 film The Drama, directed by Kristoffer Borgli and starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, has emerged as a cultural phenomenon, and its soundtrack is experiencing a significant boost as a result. Amidst a soundtrack rich with 1950s and 1970s folk tunes, Alicia Keys’ 2009 fan favorite, "Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart," has struck a chord with audiences, particularly during a pivotal wedding portrait shoot scene in the film.

This cinematic placement has introduced the song to a new generation of listeners while reawakening memories for long-time fans. According to preliminary Luminate data, "Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart" garnered 201,000 official on-demand U.S. streams during the five-day period encompassing the film’s theatrical debut (April 3-7). A week later, from April 10-14, this figure climbed by 36% to just under 275,000 official streams.

Interestingly, "Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart" had already been experiencing a gradual increase in streams over the preceding two and a half months. A significant catalyst for this prior uptick was Keys herself, who shared a video on March 22nd of an impromptu duet with Karol G singing the song during the latter’s Con Cora Land Benefit Gala. In the week of February 13-19, prior to this social media moment, the song registered 171,000 official on-demand U.S. weekly streams. Following the viral video, the song saw a dramatic 80% leap to over 310,000 official weekly streams in the week of April 3-9. While "Un-Thinkable" may have overshadowed "Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart" upon its initial release, the film’s success has given the latter track a well-deserved moment in the spotlight.

Village People’s "In the Navy" Resurfaces Through TikTok Trends

Village People’s iconic 1979 hit, "In the Navy," is experiencing a surprising resurgence on streaming platforms, driven by a confluence of popular TikTok meme challenges. While "YMCA" remains their most universally recognized anthem, "In the Navy" is currently enjoying a significant revival.

The trend began on February 24th when TikTok user @/brenton_kerr posted a video of themselves animatedly dancing to "In the Navy." This clip quickly went viral, amassing nearly 11 million views and over 1.5 million likes, introducing the song to a new audience with its energetic and eccentric presentation. Simultaneously, two other trends were gaining traction on the platform: discussions about the proliferation of propaganda on American TikTok in the wake of the Iran War, and a growing fitness challenge centered around push-ups, often set to Timbaland and Fatman Scoop’s "Drop."

These separate trends eventually converged, leading to a push-up challenge set to the chorus of "In the Navy." Users humorously employed the song to illustrate their perceived readiness (or lack thereof) for potential military service, often with a satirical edge. While some users interpreted the song’s lyrics with its inherent sexual innuendo, others focused purely on the fitness and satirical aspects.

The impact on streaming numbers has been dramatic. In the week of February 13-19, "In the Navy" garnered a modest 52,000 official on-demand U.S. streams. Over the subsequent two months, this figure has exploded by an astonishing 1,668%, reaching over 927,000 official on-demand U.S. streams in the week of April 3-9, according to Luminate. On TikTok, the official "In the Navy" sound is featured in nearly 2,000 posts, with unofficial versions appearing in tens of thousands more clips. The Village People themselves have actively participated in the trend, sharing several throwback posts featuring the track on their official TikTok account in recent weeks. This phenomenon highlights how, across generations, Village People’s music continues to be a vehicle for cultural commentary, often blending political and social themes with their signature catchy tunes.
